Rotary Club of Sturgeon Bay Hosts NCAA Basketball Championship Party
The Rotary Club of Sturgeon Bay will host the 17th Annual NCAA Basketball Championship Party at the Door County Fire Company in Sturgeon Bay on Monday, April 8. The event supports both academic and vocational scholarships for graduating students from Door County’s five high schools.
Guests may purchase $20 tickets and include an opportunity to win a $500 cash prize. The Door County Fire Company will provide hors d’oeuvres and plenty of screens to watch the final game of the NCAA Championship. In 2018, the club awarded over $27,000 in scholarships to deserving students.
Tickets are now on sale; they may be purchased from any Sturgeon Bay Noon Rotary member or by calling Andy Starr at 493-3434. Event proceeds support the scholarship program. “Having eight Big Ten teams in the NCAA Tournament will increase the event’s excitement,” commented basketball fan and event co-chair Andy Starr.
The Rotary motto “Service Above Self”’ conveys the humanitarian spirit of the organization. Among their many humanitarian efforts, The Rotary Club of Sturgeon Bay is pleased to support the young people of Door County in their pursuit of learning and enhancement of our community’s quality of life by offering “Service Above Self” scholarships to students who choose vocational and academic programs.

The following sponsors contributed over $5,500 in support: Door County Medical Center, ERA Starr Realty, Nicolet Bank, Jeff & Barb Ottum and Olson Dental, as well as the Union Supper Pub, Door County Eye Associates, Door County Candle Company, John and Nell Herlache, Door County Fire Company, Health Care Visions, Jason Feldman Landscapes, RBC Wealth Management, Staudenmaier Chiropractic, Stoneman-Schopf Agency, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans – Jake Rabas, Coldwell Banker – Scott Bader, and the Pinkert Law Firm.
