Sturgeon Bay Rotary Shipyard Tours

The Rotary Club of Sturgeon Bay Presents The
28th Annual Shipyard Tours On
Saturday, September 11th From 9:00 am to 2:00 pm

On one very special day, you are invited to experience an insider’s view of the shipbuilding industry in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. For over a century this industry has been critical to Door County’s economy. The shipbuilders of Sturgeon Bay have designed, built and repaired vessels–commercial, military and pleasure craft–that have traveled to ports around the globe.

The largest shipyard on the Great Lakes, Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding, and another Sturgeon Bay shipyard, CenterPointe Yacht Services, will once more open their doors to the public on the first Saturday of May. CenterPointe is located on First Avenue, while Bay Shipbuilding is located on Third Avenue in downtown Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.

Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding and CenterPointe will offer guided walking tours of their ship repair and new ship construction facilities. Sandwiches and refreshments will be available for purchase at Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding. To be guaranteed a tour at Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding and CenterPointe Yacht Services, guests must be in line by 1:15 pm.

The Westside “working waterfront” is again included in the tours. Show your shipyard tour ticket and receive half off admission at the Door County Maritime Museum and tug John Purves tours on both Saturday and Sunday.

At the Door County Maritime Museum, you can visit the museum for a discounted admission, tour the tug John Purves and the USCG 41-footer (which was originally stationed here) and visit their new exhibit “The Water Defines Us: DCMM@50” on Saturday and Sunday.

From 9 am to 2 pm on Saturday, representatives will be stationed by the Sarter Marine Towing tugs to converse with guests.

US Coast Guard Emergency Rescue boat from the Canal Station along with the Sturgeon Bay Police Boat on location for tours, on the West Side dock outside of the Door County Maritime Museum.
